Obituary for Elizabeth Anna Irish

Elizabeth Anna Gouldthorpe Irish, 80, of Madison Heights passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017 in Lynchburg.

Born in Washington, DC, Mrs. Irish was the daughter of the late William Frederick and Anna Creswell Gouldthorpe. Her career included employment with Riggs National Bank for 14 years and upon moving to Lynchburg, she was hired at CB Fleet and worked in the mail room for 11 years before retiring in 1998. She was a long time member of Bethany United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth C. Irish; son, Michael S. Irish (Dung Le) of Viet Nam; daughter, Debbie Jennings (Charles) of Elon; sister, Helene McDaniel of Winchester; grand children: Amy Falls (Caleb), Elizabeth N. Irish and Patrick Irish and six great-grandchildren: Karly Falls, Landry Falls, Kaylee Robey, Ryan Robey, Kierstin Alkire and Patrick Irish Jr.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kelly Michelle Jennings.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, May 5, 2017 at Bethany United Methodist Church, High Peak Road, Monroe. Interment will follow in Amherst Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Thursday at the church.

Special thanks to the caregivers at Centra Home Health Care, Centra Hospice and Guggenheimer Health and Rehabilitation for wonderful care given to Mrs. Irish during her illness.
