Obituary for Maxine Hudson Massie

Maxine Hudson Massie, 74, of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at her home.

Born in Amherst County, July 5, 1942, Mrs. Massie was the daughter of the late Alvah Hue Hudson and Wella Campbell Hudson. She drove a school bus for 42 years in Campbell County and for Timberlake Christian Schools. She also worked in the school cafeteria. She was a member of Clifford Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters: Johanna Akins-Morris (Larry) of Lynchburg and Patricia Kruschwitz (Billy) of Amherst; and two grandchildren Angel Akins and William Kruschwitz.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Beverly Patrick “Pat” Massie; and brother, Carrington Hudson.

Special thanks to caregivers: Connie Vaughan and Crystal Allen and the wonderful people at Centra Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 20, 2017 at Clifford Baptist Church. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Amherst Cemetery.
