Obituary for William Harold "Bill" Hagar

William Harold “Bill” Hagar, 90, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in Lynchburg.

Born, Feb. 19, 1927 in Thomasville, NC, he was the son of the late Charles and Alma Rhodes Hagar. He was a farmer and was retired from C&P Telephone Company after 37 years of service. Bill also loved Auto Racing. He raced on the dirt track at Shrader Field for many years. He was also a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of Monroe United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dorcas Preston Hagar; three sons: William Michael Hagar, Harold Edward Hagar (Janice) and David Preston Hagar and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, (6/30/17) in Amherst Cemetery with the Rev. Glynn Coleman officiating and Military Honors by American Legion Post No. 16.
