Selma Ruth Taylor Allison Floyd

When asked what her name was she loved to say, “Selma Ruth Taylor Allison Floyd”. She was born in Amherst July 16, 1933 to Gordon Bridges and Marjorie V. (Glascock) Allison.

Having lived a long life caring for and loving her family, she met Jesus face to face on April 27, 2019. She is now living her life with Jesus and with all those she loved who have gone before her that also knew Jesus as Lord and Savior. She was ever so looking forward to seeing our Daddy again, her husband of 47 years, Frank L. Floyd.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her brother, Gordon B. Allison, Jr., and sisters, Gracie Allison Johnson (Roy); Juanita Allison Smoot (Jack); Juana Allison Cloud (Alfred) and grandson, Charles Hart.

She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie R. Davis (Carl); Victoria L. Whorley (Bruce); Rebecca D. Bryant (R. G.); Tracy J. Beach (Everett). Grandchildren are Kelly Morley (James); Robbie Higginbotham (Terri); Cody Bryant (Amber). Four great grandchildren, Autumn, Gabby, Alexis and Killian and her great-great grandson, Neo. Also surviving her is her sister, Norma Allison Foltz and sister-in-law, Carol Allison
Momma attended Emmanuel Baptist Church and Common Ground Cowboy Church, both of Amherst.

We would like to thank the caring staff of The Carrington Nursing Home for loving our mom these past 14 months, as well as caring for and loving us. We could not have asked for a better team for mom’s care.

Services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 1st at 11 a.m. at Driskill Funeral Chapel, Amherst by Rev. Carl Davis and Dr. Michael Fitzgerald. Interment will follow in Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery in Collierstown, Rockbridge Co., VA.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Ruth’s daughter, Bonnie.
